Vranjina · Skadar Lake · Montenegro
Private boat trips through the wild heart of Skadar Lake, led by a fishing family who were born on this water. Lily fields, hidden coves, swim stops and slow sunsets, all at your own pace.
Born on this lake
We are not a tour company. We are a fishing family from Vranjina, sharing the lake we have lived on for generations.
Vranjina is an old fishing village in the very heart of Skadar Lake National Park, a place that has kept its real, unspoiled local life. Our family has cast nets in these waters for as long as anyone can remember.
That is the difference. We do not follow a route from a brochure. We read the water, the birds and the light the way you only can when the lake is your home, and we take you to the corners other boats never reach.
On board
Every tour is private and built around you. Pick the moments that matter, we handle the rest.
01 · Water lily fields
From late spring the lake vanishes under a carpet of white and yellow water lilies. We take you right into the middle of it, engine off, just the water and the flowers.
02 · Birdwatching
Pelicans, herons, cormorants and kingfishers. We know the still coves where they gather, and the best hour to find them.
03 · History
Centuries of history rise straight out of the water. We slow right down so you can take it in. Depending on the route, we can pass:
Lesendro fortress · Grmožur (the "Montenegrin Alcatraz") · Kom Monastery · Vranjina Monastery · Karuč fishing village · Rijeka Crnojevića · Poseljani
04 · Swim stops
We pull into a calm, clean bay so you can swim straight off the boat into the freshwater. Bring a swimsuit and a towel.
05 · Drinks on board
Cold drinks in the shade of the boat as the shoreline drifts past. Nowhere to be, nothing to rush.
06 · Homemade delicacies
On request, the family prepares homemade local treats to enjoy on the water. Just let us know when you book.

Special trips

As the light turns gold the lake goes glassy and the mountains glow. A sunset cruise is the most romantic way to end the day, made for couples and for photographs you will keep forever.
Book a sunset cruise
Set out while the lake is glassy and the air is still cool. Mornings are the finest time for birdwatching, for mist over the lilies, and for having the whole place almost to yourself.

How it works
Message us on WhatsApp with your dates and how many of you there are. A real person replies, usually fast.
We suggest the best time of day and what to see, sunrise, swim or sunset, and answer every question.
Meet us at the dock, climb on, and let the lake take over. That is the whole plan.

Mijo grew up fishing these waters and now guides guests across them. He knows where the pelicans feed, where the water runs clearest, which channels open into the lily fields and exactly when the light turns gold.
You travel as a private group, at your own pace, with someone who genuinely loves this lake and wants you to love it too.

All tours start from Vranjina on Skadar Lake, by Apartment Dapcevic. We send you the exact pin and meeting details when you book.
We have four set routes, all private and priced at €20 per hour per person, for groups of 4 to 12: Kom Monastery (2 h — €40), Karuč (3 h — €60), Poseljani (4 h — €80) and Rijeka Crnojevića (5 h — €100). For a smaller or larger group, or a custom route, just message us on WhatsApp.
Choose by how much time you have. The 2 h Kom Monastery tour is the best short introduction to the lake — lilies, birds and a medieval island monastery. The 3 h Karuč tour adds a swim stop and a traditional fishing village. The 4 h Poseljani tour is the one for waterfalls, spring-water swimming and wild nature away from other boats. The 5 h Rijeka Crnojevića tour is the full day out, up the river canyon past old stone bridges, and the most scenic of the four.
Poseljani is one of the lake's best-kept secrets. The 4 hour private tour takes you to hidden waterfalls, crystal-clear spring water for swimming, and untouched wild nature well off the tourist trail. At €80 per person it is the perfect half-day adventure.
Vranjina sits directly on the main Podgorica–Bar road, on the causeway that crosses Skadar Lake. It is about 20 km from Podgorica, roughly a 25 minute drive, and about 30 minutes from Podgorica airport. From Budva allow around an hour, and from Kotor around an hour and a half. The Podgorica–Bar railway line also stops nearby, and there is parking at the departure point.
The season runs from spring through autumn. May and June are best for the water lilies and for birdlife, July and August are warmest for swimming, and September brings quieter water and soft golden light for photographs. Early morning and sunset trips are the calmest and most beautiful hours on the lake in any month.
The water lily fields usually start to open in late May and are at their fullest through June and into early July, when large stretches of the lake surface turn green and white. Exact timing shifts a little each year with the weather and the water level.
Skadar Lake is one of the most important bird habitats in Europe, with more than 280 recorded species. It is best known for the Dalmatian pelican, one of the last colonies in Europe, along with pygmy cormorants, herons and many migratory species. The quiet coves we visit early in the morning are the best places to see them.
Yes. The boat is private and the pace is relaxed, so it works just as well for families with kids as for couples and groups of friends.
Yes. We stop at calm, clear bays so you can swim straight from the boat. Bring a swimsuit and a towel.
A swimsuit and towel if you want to swim, sun protection and a hat, and a camera or binoculars if you are interested in the birdlife. Drinks are on board, and homemade Montenegrin delicacies can be prepared on request if you ask when booking.
Every tour is private. The boat is yours and your group's alone, so the route, the pace and the stops are decided by you together with us. We do not combine separate bookings on the same trip.
